Forten van België

On this web page, I will try to portray the fortifications in Belgium. But from a visitors point of view.

It is not my intention to give historically accurate and complete overview of all fortifications but just to create a bit of an image for the novice fortification enthusiast or the accidental tourists. It is intended as a way to offer a guide of what you can see, where and when.

On the following pages, you can see an overview of fortifications already visited by me. These visits are only during normal opening hours, some by one-time openings.

A few fort administrators gave me the opportunity of visiting them outside of a group. But what you see on my photos is what you will see when you visit these forts.

The season has started again, thanks to the guide of fort Kessel and the people of Airsoft adventure, I have gotten the opportunity to visit the fort of Koningshooikt. This fort has seen it's part of the action during the war.

Just over our border I visited the Groupe Fortifié de Guentrange at Thionville (France), it's a fort build in the late 19th century.
